You can live with cancer!

The possibility of you beating cancer, particularly in Australia, is increasing every year. There are over 1 million people alive in Australia who are either living with or have lived with cancer. Around 30 years ago, about 5 in 10 people survived for at least 5 years after their cancer diagnosis; more recent figures are closer to 7 in 10 people surviving at least 5 years. In 2019, it is estimated that cancer incidence (new diagnoses) rates will be close to 5% less than in 2008 and the estimated age-standardised cancer mortality rate for the Australian population is expected to reach a new low of 159 deaths per 100,000 persons. Understanding and avoiding the risk factors associated with cancer can help to reduce the chance of getting cancer, while cancer screening programs increase the likelihood of detecting cancer early, enabling better outcomes from treatments. Improvements in treatments and care are also important contributors to improvements in survival. More than likely you have come to this web site because you or someone close to you has recently been diagnosed with cancer. It is a very difficult time in your life and we would like to help.

A STORY OF COURAGE
The Lynne King Cancer Care Foundation is committed to caring for those whose circumstances make their cancer journey less comfortable than it could be. We hope to make a difference. Thank you for taking the time to share our story.“She spent her life caring about others. Even throughout her own cancer journey her attention was always focused on what it was doing to her family and those around her rather than the impact it was having on herself. She was our guiding light. How we will navigate life’s path without her is anyone’s guess. However, be assured that we will always try to do it with the same dignity, determination and courage that she demonstrated throughout her life and none more than at the end of it.” –Reg KingLynne’s Story

about the foundation

The Lynne King Cancer Care Foundation has been established to provide assistance to those persons with cancer who find themselves in financial difficulty or who lack an appropriate support network.

The following are just some of the areas where the Foundation may become involved. To assist those who suffer financial hardship as a direct result of the cost of treatments or loss of income, or both.

The Foundation seeks to support individuals affected by cancer in three distinct ways:

•  The financial underwriting of more effective treatments where the financial gap places them outside of the individual’s personal reach.

•  Assistance to a personal carer in need of respite, by the provision of nursing care during their absence.

•  To assist both carers and those with cancer to access as many legitimate support organisations as possible and provide a framework in which to communicate this information to others.

Our Cases

“Our aim is to help as many people with Cancer who need financial and emotional support. To assist those who suffer financial hardship as a direct result of the cost of treatments or loss of income, or both. Assisting the people that would otherwise fall between the cracks without our help. We provide both financial and emotional support, medical equipment, treatments, and drugs to those who will not be able to afford them. There are many people in society who suffer unnecessary hardships because they, or someone they care for has contracted Cancer. Here are just a few examples of the wonderful people we have had the pleasure of working with previously.”
